  1. The Foundation

    1975

    ALCRI C. LTDA was established in 1975 with a focus on manufacturing aluminum and glass windows.
    Founded by Architect Douglas Durán (1975 - present), Architect Guillermo Cubillo (1975-1976), and Nicolás Jungbluth (1975-1977), the company began its journey with a commitment to quality and innovation. Over the years, ALCRI C. LTDA has evolved, undertaking significant projects and embracing technological advancements to become a trusted name in the industry.

    Commitment to our innovation
    From its inception, our journey has been marked by significant strides:
    Initially focusing on manufacturing windows for social housing programs, we swiftly garnered notable clients including the Ecuadorian Housing Bank and residences in Las Acacias, Pradera, and Los Esteros.

    Over time, we evolved and rebranded from ALCRI C. LTDA to Alcristal, Aluminios y Cristales C. Ltda., reflecting our commitment to growth and innovation in the aluminum and glass industry.

    1980

    Residences and Buildings
    Our growth trajectory expanded in 1980 as we ventured into manufacturing and installing traditional windows for middle-class residences and buildings. The inaugural installation took place at Policentro, a renowned shopping center in Guayaquil, marking a significant milestone in our evolution.

    1985

    Laminated Glass
    In 1985, ALCRISTAL, Aluminios y Cristales C. Ltda., pioneered the introduction of safety laminated glass to the market. This innovation provided customers with enhanced noise control, solar protection, and security for their projects, setting a new standard in the industry.

  5. New Installation Techniques

    1988

    Structural Glazing
    In 1988, Alcristal revolutionized the installation of glass in buildings with an innovative method. This approach concealed framing towards the interior, giving the exterior glass a seamless appearance.
    By introducing the use of structural silicone for installation, Alcristal led the development of glass curtain walls.
    This innovation was pivotal in notable projects across Guayaquil, Quito, and Cuenca.

    In 1992, we introduced fixed point glazing systems using handles and steel cables, enhancing both seismic safety and design flexibility. This innovation enabled us to undertake notable projects such as the IMAX at Malecón 2000, Juan Eljuri Stores, and numerous commercial facades.

    1994

    Implementation of Polycarbonate
    In 1994, Alcristal partnered with GE Polymershapes to introduce polycarbonate to the Ecuadorian market. This durable material was utilized in major projects including the Cruz del Sur School and Policentro covers, showcasing its versatility and reliability.

    Marketing of Composite Aluminum
    Also in 1994, we launched aluminum composite panels into the construction market. This initiative marked a significant milestone, offering architects and builders enhanced design possibilities and structural integrity.

    1995: Rebrand

    In 1995, ALCRISTAL, Aluminios y Cristales C. Ltda., underwent a transformation to become ALCRISTAL, Aluminios y Cristales C.A., marking a pivotal moment in our journey of growth and evolution.

    Automatic Doors
    In 1999, Alcristal partnered with Horton Automatic Doors, establishing leadership in installing doors across diverse environments including shopping centers, hospitals, airports, and cruise ships. This collaboration marked a significant expansion in our capabilities and service offerings.

    2000

    International Collaboration – EXTRUGASA
    In 2000, Alcristal made a strategic alliance with EXTRUGASA, Galicia's leading extruder and part of the Quintá group. This partnership enabled the implementation of the Euroven window system, setting new benchmarks in international-quality standards.

    Manufacturing and Installation of Euroven Systems
    In 2002, after extensive staff training and the implementation of advanced machinery, equipment, and dies, Alcristal commenced the manufacturing of 100% mechanized doors and windows using the Euroven system.
    Our specialized labor ensures precise installation, certified by EXTRUGASA for exceptional quality and precision.
